Concert in the Dark - Rangleklods' Awakens the Senses

On a cold Thursday evening in February, DFMedia found the city of Copenhagen roaming with people. The freezing weather didn’t seem to stop any of them from stepping out, taking off on their bikes and experiencing the many different events that the city had to offer.

DFMedia with The Copenhagen Voice is covering this month the FROST Festival. The festival presents high quality and alternative concerts, taking place in unique locations all over the city.

DFMedia hit the Cafeteater on Skindergade to check out the electronic sounds of Rangleklods. Cafeteater is known for its avant garde funky style and showing of both controversial and foreign plays in Denmark.

Rangleklods, a Danish electronic duo, performed in the dark to awaken the senses of the audience.  The public stood in the middle of a totally dark room while white screens covered 3 out of 4 walls. The musicians were placed behind the screens. According to the band, they want to create an environmental balance between simplicity and complexity. Caught in the dark, one is trapped between blindness with sound. The experience was tantalizing to say the least, taking one to a place where the mind is free to visualize its own world stimulated only by music. Interestingly enough, a neon stick was handed out to those who in total darkness may to need have an emergency back up light in case the darkness was too much to handle.

Check out video of night:

Rangleklods consists of Esben Andersen and Pernille Smith-Sivertsen. What began as Esben’s solo project has gradually turned into a collaboration between the two, who already shared ideas and musical visions during Rangleklods’ infant hours in Berlin.

The back entrance to Cafeteater on Skindegade, midtown.

A neon stick that was offered to all participants entering the concert. In case that someone will feel claustrophobic while locked in in the dark room, one could just break the stick so that the neon will turn on. That way, the guards see notice the problem and accompany them out side.
