The dog poop issue was always there between the dog owners and people who do not have dogs.
I believe, everybody has experienced that annoying moment when you are in a rush, just out of your door and then there is "one" of those things on the pavement waiting for you and of course you step right in the middle of it. I took a small walk with some of my friends in the inner part of Copenhagen to check on this issue, and I must say we didn't have to go so far to find the first piece of "dirt" on the ground.
We met some dog owners during their walks at one of the biggest parks in the city, and they had their opinions about the topic... they believe it is really not fair of those dog owners to not pick up their doggie's waste because
they get some negative comments about their own dogs, even if they do pick it up. They said that it would be so nice to have a lot more of those bins on the streets where everyone could take a plastic bag from and clean up the leftovers from their dogs. We have found 2 of those special bins, one of them was at the this special playground for dogs.
The "forgotten" dog waste actually can be dangerous and harmful according to the The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They say a single gram of dog waste can contain 23 million fecal coliform bacteria, which are known to cause cramps, diarrhea, intestinal illness, and serious kidney disorders in humans.
What do you think? - Should there be more enforcement of dog owners to pick up their dog's waste? - Should they get a ticket if caught? - What about your neighborhood? Does it stink of doggie leftovers? - Should we take a picture from our mobile phones and be allow to send it to some kommune office to report this mess? Why do you think people don't pick up after their dog's?
